On Friday of each week we will post a new maths challenge.
You may submit your solution by the following Thursday.
Each problem contains two different levels of difficulty. You will be awarded from 2 to 12 points for a full answer.
Each series contains 12 problems before the stage winner is determined.
Your score will be published here.

In each series we will give away 3 books as prices. The prices will be drawn by lot among the best ten participants of the series. The books are kindly sponsored by Buchdienst Rattei of Chemnitz.

Suggestions for problems are welcome.

‘Do you know the special value of W E I H N A C H T E N (German word for Christmas)?’ grandpa asked his grandchildren. ‘No, what is that?’ asked Maria and Bernd.
The (German) word consists of e11 letters. Each letter must be replaced by the number of the task in which it was used, e.g. A is replaced by 672.
There are three 3 blue points for the sum S of the 11 numbers - don't forget the calculation path.
Determine the smallest natural number n so that S + n is a prime number - another 2 blue points.
There are three 3 red points for the product P of the 11 numbers - don't forget the calculation path.
Is P+1 a prime number? 2 red points

Deadline for solution is the 9th. January 2025.
